Biomass thermolysis
The process
Thermolysis applies a temperature of about 400–1,000 °C to the input material (biomass, sewage sludge…), breaking organic compounds down into stable low-molecular products and a solid residue. The result is pyrolytic coke, oil or gas usable for heat and power generation – the pyrolysis oil has properties similar to light fuel oil.
Input materials
Separated municipal and industrial waste, bio-waste, wood chips and grass, mildly toxic waste (hospital waste), plastics, meat and bone meal, rubber and worn-out tyres, sewage sludge and other organic material.
