A thermoelectric generator (TEG) is an electrical device which produces electrical energy based on the temperature difference. TEG operates on the basis of semiconductor prisms of various compositions depending on the temperatures used. TEG works independently without any electricity supply. TEG can be used wherever there is plenty of radiant or contact heat (e.g. hot surfaces of boilers, chimneys, fireplaces and other sources of radiant and contact heat). To get electricity just enclose TEG lower surface to the heated object, or a radiation temperature of about 50-250 ° C, and connect electrical terminals TEG to the powered appliances. TEG will provide power as long as its two sides differ temperatures.
